My great grandfather Robert/Robert Gifford BLAIR was born in New Glasgow in about 1828-32, and his brother james BLAIR was born New Glasgow in 1822. Their parents were James BLAIR and Maria GIFFORD. We believe that James Snr was a soldier and may have been in New Glasgow as part of a garrison. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether or the was a garrison at New Glasgow during this period. And if there is anyway we can find out if there would be church records that would detail births.
