    1. [PICTOU-L] Seeking McLEANS
    2. Richard MacNeil
    3. Hi folks, I am forwarding this to the list for Rob McLean who is not a subscriber. If anyone has information to share, please email him at "mailto:mclean@citlink.com". Thanks, Rick MacNeil Rob McLean wrote: I am seeking info on William and Margaret McLean who came over to Nova Scotia in 1801 on the ship The Sarah. I already have the passenger list. They were from Kilmorach, in Inverness-shire. I believe they were traveling with at least two sons, William Jr. (my ggg) and John. Another with them was Donald, but may not be a son, may be a brother to William Sr. So now how do we find out what happened to William and Margaret after they got off the ship? They arrived in 1801, and with our William Jr. being born in 1791, and the possibility of the ship's Donald being their son, this would make them marrying anywhere between 1775 and 1790. That's a broad range I know, and I can't even imagine what William Sr's age was or when he was born. How difficult is it really going to be to find this couple? If we can find a headstone in Pictou County or any Scottish documentation on them it might be helpful to pinpoint where they are actually from. Inverness-shire is a county, and a big one, in Scotland - so that's not much help at all. We have some vague clues that point in the direction of Hector McLean who came over on The Hector, and some other data that states that another Hector Mclean came over in 1801 - however he is not listed on either the Sarah or the Dove - which as far as we can find are the only two ships that came over in that year. Does this connect with anyone? Rob McLean
