Born in Tufts Cove, he was a son of the late Percy and Annie (Hinch) Nelson. He was an employee of Scott Maritimes Ltd. for the past 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the army and air force. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou, and St. James Anglican Church, Pictou. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Osmond; two daughters, Deborah (Mrs Bryan Fraser), Westville; Wendy (Mrs Tim Spears), Pictou; three sons, Darrell and Stephen, both of Pictou; Richard, Wolfville; six grandchildren; three sisters, Ida Prior and Dalores Kileen, both of Dartmouth; Ruby Arsenault, Truro; eight brothers, Cecil, Norman and Roy, all of Dartmouth; Hiram and Stanley, both of British Columbia; Earl and Gerald, both of Truro; Carl, Digby. He was predeceased by ! three brothers, Vincent, William and Arthur. Funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 16 in St. James Anglican Church, Rev. Dale Cuffe officiating. Burial was in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Pictou. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. James Anglican Church.
