Born in Big Pond, Pictou County, he was the son of the late William and Joanna (MacDonald) McGee. He held a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Mary's University and an Electrical Engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. He was a life member of the Professional Engineers of Canada. In January, 1987, he received a Certificate of Merit award from the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia in recognition of his long-term contribution to the profession during his career. He held positions with Canadian General Electric in Hamilton, Toronto and Montreal. He retired as Atlantic manager of the Maritime provinces for Canadian General Electric. Since his retirement he had been manager, capital projects, Industrial Marine Projects. He was an honorary director of the company. He was past president of the Ha! lifax Rotary Club, a governor of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council and a governor of the Saraguay Club. He served on the boards of the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children, the Halifax Board of Trade, and the Boy Scouts of Canada. He also served as a member of the board of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He established the first Electric Service League in the Maritime Provinces. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Dwyer; a daughter, Joanne Hurst, Halifax; two sons, Timothy, Halifax; Terrence, Mount Stewart, P.E.I.; a brother, Albert, New Glasgow; two sisters, Gertrude Moreau and Jeanette Guilderson, both of Brighton, Mass.; seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Christina Nolan and Loretta Byrnes. Funeral service was held 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Halifax. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
