Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Thompson) McIntyre. He was a retired truck driver for Dickson's Transfer Ltd. He was a member of Springville Presbyterian Church, Pictou County Firemen's Association, East River Fire Department and Royal Canadian Legion, Hopewell. He is survived by his wife, the former Jill Ashton; three sons, Robert, Halifax; Richard, Trenton; Jason, at home; two stepsons, Richard Ashton, Ottawa; John Ashton, Bridgeville; five sisters, Edith (Mrs Charles Stevens), Trenton; Jessie (Mrs John Ferguson), Gays River; Margaret (Mrs Jack Rushton), Evelyn (Mrs Ed Poirier) and Mrs Anna Filssinger, all of Streetville; a brother, James, Trenton; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Bernett; one brother, William; a sister, Margaret, in i! nfancy. Memorial service was Saturday, Feb. 13 in Springville Presbyterian Church, Rev. Edgar Dewar officiating. Note: the Advocate's headline gave Mr. McIntyre's name as "Gordon Henry", but the obituary was as above.
