Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late James and Ellen (Henderson) Maxwell. He lived in Hopewell all of his married life and was a machinist with Acadia Coal Co. before retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan M. Clarke; a daughter, Betty (Mrs Russell King), Abercrombie; two sons, Vance, Newfoundland; Lyle, Enfield; a brother, Dr. Roy, Glace Bay; a grandchild. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn; several brothers and sisters. Funeral was in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton on Saturday, July 2. Burial was in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
