Hi folks, I'm forwarding this for Bill Dunbar to the list. For some reason, the list doesn't recognize him as a subscriber. You can reply to Bill at "mailto:Bill_Dunbar@msn.com" if you can be of help. One suggestion is Dr. Alex Forrest's day book which runs to 1856. I'm not sure who has it... maybe PCGHS. Hopefully he was practicing in 1831.... Cheers, Rick MacNeil Hi: A while ago found the following in the 5 Nov 1831 Colonial Patriot newspaper (Pictou I think). "The Verdict of the Jury, upon the body of Alexander Fraser, Tialor, West Branch East River, that the deceased came to his death by the infliction of an wound on himself, with a penknife is a fit of insanity. JOHN McKAY, Coroner." Checked with Archives in Halifax and they don't have old Coroner Records. Also tried Pictou Historical Society and they didn't have any records. Is there still a Coroner Office in Pictou Co. or is it handled by someone else, The Mounties? Anyway, what I'd hope to find would be a more complete report that might mention more exactly where this Alexander lived or some family members that may have been witnesses etc. My GGG grandfather was Alexander Fraser, Tailor, and he lived just north of Hopewell along the West Branch East River and he died about this time. If anyone had a phone no., address or email of the Coroner Office in Pictou Co. would ap! p! reciate it. Many thanks. Bill in Montana
