Born in Bridgeville, he was a son of the late Henry and Edith (Silver) Morrell. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. He was a coal miner in the Albion MacGregor and McBain Mines for 54 years. He was a veteran of the First World War, having served with the 25th Battalion. He was a survivor of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. He was a member of Branch No. 28, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by three sons, Bryon, Fall River; Ralph, Ottawa; Bill, at home; two brothers, George, Ottawa; Alfie, Stellarton; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Janet Weir; a son, Earl; two brothers, Clarence and Reggie; a sister, Violet; a stepmother, the former Minnie MacDonald; a half-sister, Virgie. Funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 20 in First Presbyteri! an Church, Stellarton, Rev. Murdo Marple officiating. Spring burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses.
