Born in Coalburn, he was a son of the late Albert and Lucy (Sullivan) Martin. He lived in Pictou Landing Road since 1954. Prior to that he lived in Coalburn and Ontario. He was on the board of managers of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing. He was past secretary-treasurer of the Pictou Landing Fire Department and a member of the IOOF and Masonic lodges in Thorburn. He was a retired coal miner and school bus driver. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Fraser; a son, Bert, Coalburn; a daughter, Betty (Mrs Alex Stoke), Stellarton; a stepdaughter, Linda (Mrs Douglas Brine), French River; a foster sister, Bertha Cunningham, Westville; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frederick J., Francis A., and John; a sister, in infancy. Funeral was Sunday, Jan. 17 in ! Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing, Rev. Ken MacLeod officiating. Burial was in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.
