Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late William S. and Clara (Shank) Nightingale. He was a member of St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, and was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3, Glace Bay. He was a retired Devco employee. He is survived by three sisters (this is what the Advocate printed, but maybe it should be daughters?); 10 sons, including Karl, New Glasgow; four sisters; four brothers; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Veronica MacGinnis. Funeral service was held Sunday, Mar. 13 in St. Anne's Church. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
