Ireland 600 acres Mary Rankin 38 b. Ireland Thomas Sweeney 21 b. Ireland This is on the 1850 census for Maine, Aroostook County 17 range 9 Ref: reel no m 432-248 http://www.upperstjohn.com/1850/T17R9.htm#168a I live in St. Francis, Me and the St.John River flows through which is the boarder between Me and Canada, until the boarder swings up the St. Francis River. On the St. John River there is a rapids called Rankin Rapids and there was a picnic ground named after the Rankin Family Name. I imagin this is the area that the Rankin Farm was. However there are no Rankin Family here today, I thought I would share this with you. My family on my Mothers line was Connors, O'Leary, Moir, Henderson, Nelson they all came from Canada to Maine in the 1850's because of the Lumbering. They came to PEI and Nova Scotia then up thru the Miramichi on to Campbellton, NB then Connors NB to Maine. My GG Grandparents David Connors(1795-1879) and Mary Nelson(1805-1870) are buried in Campbellton, NB. Carol Pelletier carpell@sjv.net
