    1. [PICTOU-L] New McGLASHEN researcher + FRASER, McKAY
    2. Richard MacNeil
    3. Hi folks, I've just added Stewart Montgomerie to the Surname Registry. He is researching the McGLASHEN, FRASER and McKAY surnames in the county. Please contact him at "mailto:s.montgomerie@ns.sympatico.ca" if you have any information to share. I'm including part of his email below to give a more complete perspective of his research...... Good luck ! Rick MacNeil My brick wall is the MCGLASHEN(s )of MERIGOMISH , and later, I think ( or who knows it could have been earlier!)of BROADWAY. In my grandfather, the Rev.Dr. John Archibald McGlashen's obit. - he died in 1941 in Dartmouth - it says he was born in Broadway. But the 1871 census has him in Merigomish when I believe he was listed as being 8 years old. Also looking for a link to his mother Catherine FRASER McGlashen who was 44 y/o in April 1871, and the father was Donald, the only one listed as born in Scotland who was 36 in 1871. While I'm at it if anyone is able to verify that there are still McGlashens in the 1881 census in and around Merigomish . if it's not that easy , then I'll have to delve into LDS records. or the like. Last but not least I have MCKAYS back to the early 1800's @ Laggan. My g.g.ggrandfather was known as Mad Donald McKay 9(born in Scotland). I am descended from his son John "WoodHouse" McKay and his son in turn Hugh McKay, shoemaker of Trenton/ Thorburn and then his daughter my grandmother Willena Blanche McKay Montgomerie.
