Born in Motherwell, Scotland, he was a son of the late Robert and Helen (Dennistoun) Rankin. He was employed with Johnson MacDonald Limited and by Moore and Chase Sheet Metal Works until his retirement. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (Mrs Don McKay), Thorburn; Jeanne (Mrs W.J. Davenport), Port Coquitlam, B.C.; three sons, James (Bud), Trenton; Robert, Bath, Ont.; William, Edmonton; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Elizabeth Thompson; his second wife, the former Rachel Slate; three sisters, Mary, Kate and Jen; three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Jack. Private family service was held Sunday, July 17, in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to any charity.
