    1. Re: [CAN-NS-PICTOU] Holy Name Cemetery - Surname LENT

    3. I knew him very well. And Mrs. Lent too. Actually he came back to teach at the age of 70 and taught me in Grade 9. Or at least tried to teach us!!! Many he had then he also had taught their parents. Mrs. Lent is buried at Holy Name Cemetery and F.I. is buried at Auburn Cemetery. he never changed churches and in fact, sang in the choir for years at St. Paul United Church. My mom wrote the local news for Westville for many years, and Dad would call Mrs. Lent and she would give all the news from their family- who had been visiting, etc. We had "sort of a connection" with them- Dad's first cousin's wife, Jennie Campbell, was Muriel Lent's sister-in-law. Lena married Allan Campbell from town (I am pretty sure it was Allan). In small towns there are lots of connections!! Actually Lena Lent Campbell's two daughters-in-law went to high school with me! I could take some pictures for you- will call someone I know connected with Holy Name to get an idea where Mrs. Lent's headstone is- and I know where his is in at Auburn cemetery. Never heard of any other Lent families in this area. Take care. I had no idea that Frederick had so many siblings. I am trying to track them down in the 1869 census. I would love to find birth certs. on the kids and a marriage license for the parents. Frederick came to the U.S. in 1892. I assume he must have come with his parents or older siblings. The parents and older children supposedly live in Bailey's Brook in 1869 but I have been unable to track them back that far. They have quite a few records. We've been there several times. Looked at the 1874 A.F. Church map of Colchester County and see an A. Wall farm on Salmon River. Would expect it's Alexander's. It's right on the north bank of the Salmon River right where the road from Riverdale towards the main highway crosses the River. 1881 census has him & family living at Salmon River so most likely this place. From the census's it appears both Alexander and abel were born in Nova Scotia. One thing you might try is get to a LDS Family History Center and get their films on Deeds and Property etc. and see if any Wall's owned prperty in the County abouot the time the boys were born. Not too common a name so a good possiblity you could find the father at least. Good luck. Bill in Montana. There is a Colchester County site like Pictou Counties but it's pretty quiet most of the time. Bill in Montana Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You never know for sure if the event was never reported, or record was lost or perhaps happened somewhere else. Try spelling variations (even out to lunch ones) on the surname you are looking for, the index is transcribed from the records and the records are handwritten. Sometimes they even have spelling errors on the records themselves. Search on the PANB website too, both in these transcribed newsclippings - http://archives.gnb.ca/APPS/NewspaperVitalStats/default.aspx?culture=en-CA and in their vital stats database. The newsclippings have many events that happened in both NS and PEI that made it to the NB papers. The clippings span 1800-1900 and farther, I've found many goodies there. Try posting messages on query sites too. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
