After looking at these message boards I can see that there were many marriages between these two surnames. I am looking for any information that I can find on the following family: Flora Gillis born about 1847 in Nova Scotia married either Alexander or Angus McDonald who was also born about 1847. They had at least on daughter, Mary Jane McDonald who was born 8 Dec 1880 in Pictou, NS. She moved to Massachusetts and married Louis Pomeroy. Louis and Mary Pomeroy were my great-grandparents. While doing research on them I came across a letter from an aunt that gave me another clue. It would appear that Flora had a cousin named Florence who was born about 1881. She and her mother and sister moved to Massachusetts in about 1901. Her mother's name was Annie(maiden name unknown). Her sister's name was Margaret and she was born about 1885. Florence married Louis Meoli, a barber from Medford, Mass. Louis and Florence had two sons Louis J born 4 Sep 1915 and John born about 1920. I know that I have thrown a lot of information into this one post, but I am hoping that it will help someone identify the family. If anyone has any information about any of these families, please send me a message. Thank you in advance. Diane Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
