His mother was Rachel Baisley, the daughter of Wm. Baisley. The brother of Mr. Stalter is Brewster; his sister's name is Catherine. The present wife, whom he married Feb. 3, 1864, is the daughter of Mr. Bulson. The children by his first wife are Eliza, the wife of D. Keesler; Theodore**, Amelia, Brewster, Jane, the wife of Nelson Rose; R.B.*, the storekeeper, and Elbert. An only son of the last wife is Fred. There are three sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, and 21 grand children. This Nicholas found his name spelled STAULTER in one US Census record. He is my maternal G.G.Grandfather. I'm Not sure if your Ryans are related to mine or not; My gg grandfather came from County Cork Ireland he was a stowaway on a ship; He came to Nova Scotia & settled inCledonia Mills in antigonish Co. He worked on the Manchester Rd. Between 1830-1850 the whole crew were Irishmen; it is thought that he also had 2 or 3 brothers who came to N.S. but we don't know for sure john first married at age 24 in guysborough St. Anns Parish at age 39 he married his 2nd wife in st.Andrews Anti. Co. They obtained 150 acres of land at Durrells island in canso; I know some of the ryans in trenton but dont know if they are related or not; we are still trying to get mor information but so far no luck I don't know if this of any help to you or not; keepin touch you never can tell what may surf best regards Cecil MacNeil

Hi folks, Many thanks to Kim Stevens who has done a lot of work to transcribe the 1838 Pictou Township census! It has just been posted tonight and can be found at "http://www.rootsweb.com/~nspictou/cen_1838_pictou_1.htm" Note that it is left in the original order as you may be able to track down your ancestors by using property deeds and maps (grant maps, A.F. Church maps, Meacham Atlas and Faribault-Fletcher maps) which list neighbours' names to match to the order of family names as they appear in the census. Cheers, Rick MacNeil

They were married in PA and moved to Nova Scotia around 1860, probably due to the civil war in the U.S. I seem to have lost Michael in Melford, but found his son James and wife Sarah in Trenton, N.S. a few years later.
