    1. [PICTOU-L] County Court Proceedings, Nov. 1920
    2. Richard MacNeil
    3. Hi, Here are two court cases rom the Eastern Chronicle, Nov. 16, 1920 In the County Court on Saturday at Pictou several cases were disposed of before Judge Patterson. The four girls from Westville pleaded guilty to thefts of clothing from New Glasgow stores. Alice Guthro, was given two years' suspended sentence, Christena McDonald, two weeks; Lillian Robicheau five months, and Mary Leonard four months in the County jail. The cases against William Little and Walter Roy, Constables, for assault upon Jas. Cunningham of Westville, were both dismissed. The judge held the constables had a right to take the horse under the bill of sale, over which the row started, and that evidently Cunningham struck the first blow. Cheers, Rick MacNeil

I can think of no reason why the would have needed passports or visas, many people went back and forth between the US and Nova Scotia and/or New Brunswick on a fairly regular basis, from the late 1600's and on until today. This is why it is always good to search both areas. Some persons had homes in both countries and would travel back and forth. Often some children would be born in the US and others in Canada.

    3. Hi Liz, > Could someone please describe A.F Church maps, Faribault-Fletcher maps? Here is the url to get an explanation as to what the A.F Church maps, Faribault-Fletcher maps contain. The A.F. Church maps are really inexpensive to buy, contain a lot if information, and I would highly recommend them. You can even call the folks to order them. "http://www.gov.ns.ca/natr/library/histmaps.htm" > Where are these maps? and also where are property deeds kept for Pictou? Property deeds are kept in the Justice Building in Pictou in the Deeds office. Some original grant documents have been removed to the archives in Halifax. Unfortunately the folks in the Deeds office won't do any searching for you there, but they may recommend a researcher. I'd do a lookup for you but I live about 1,800 km. down the road from Pictou. Cheers, Rick
