Hi there from Victoria BC; I'm looking for any info on John W.S. Glenwright born Jan.6,1874 in Pictou Co.probably Westville or Stellarton. He's the son of Thomas Glenwright who died in the Drummond Colliery Explosions of 1873. I've located most of Tom's descendants, but John's a mystery. Also surviving is his mother, Florence MacLeod of New Glasgow, as well as four brothers and two sisters: Gordon, Westville; Harvey, New Glasgow; Rod, Abercrombie; Norman, Bridgetown; Mabel (Mrs. Mervyn MacKay) and Joan (Mrs. Warren MacDonald), all of New Glasgow. He was predeceased by his father, Major Les MacLeod and a brother, Douglas. The remains are at Robinson's Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Friday in Hamilton.

They lived in Pictou Co. in the mid-late (?) 1800's, but I am unsure if they were born there or emigrated there from Scotland. They were John and Mary(MacDougall) MacDonald. My grandmother Mary Catherine MacDonald was born Aug. 25th, 1897. She had twin brothers Mark and Michael. Mark died at a young age. Michael married Martha(?) and lived in New Glasgow. My grandmother married John Dan MacDougall b. Sept. 4th, 1883 of Port Hood, Cape Breton probably about the 1920's, though I'm not sure whether they married in Pictou, or Cape Breton. Dr. William Lloyd MacLellan, 79, of Morrisburg, Ont., died Tuesday, Dec. 29 at home. Born in Pictou County, he attended Pictou Academy and graduated from McGill University in 1932, and later was awarded a BD from Presbyterian College, Montreal, Que., in 1934. He had the pastoral charges of Tatamagouche, Balfron, Earltown and The Falls; Scotsburn; First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. He was inducted into St. John's Church, Cornwall, in 1944, and served there until 1974, when he ministered for a short time in Nova Scotia, and then moved to the churches of Morrisburg and Dunbar, Ontario. Dr. MacLellan retired in 1980 in Morrisburg, Ont. He continued to preach almost every Sunday including a six-month appointment in Bermuda. He served on almost every board at the local and national level of the Presbyterian Church, and was also very active in community life, receiving many civic citations. He was a militia chaplain! for 25 years, with the Pictou County Highlanders and the S.D. & G. Highlanders, retiring with the rank of major. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Clark; two daughters, seven grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Mrs. T. C. McConnell), Scotsburn; a brother, Donald, New Glasgow. Funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 2 in St. John's Presbyterian Church, Cornwall, Ont. Rev. Fred Rennie officiated. Spring burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Scotsburn.
