    3. Hi Cherylyn, I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but if any publication would have the Economist passenger list, it would be the following: "Passenger and Immigration Lists Index" A Guide to Published Records of More Than 3,049,000 Immigrants Who Came to the New World Between the Sixteenth and Mid-Twentieth Centuries. Edited by: P. William Filby and Frank V. Castronova Gale Research 645 Griswold St., Detroit MI 48226-4094 I hope you live close enough to a library that has it. There are too many volumes for an interlibrary loan. 3. Hi Gloria, Sorry for the delay... I've had a few distractions tokeep me fron answering emails ( a squash injury and a newsletter for the condo to get out in a hurry). Here is what Place-Names and Places of Nova Scotia, pg. 25, has to say about Avondale Station. Sorry, no MacLeods... "AVONDALE STATION, Pictou County This rural area is located about four miles upstream from the mouth of Barnerys River. It was known as Central Barneys River until the name was changed to Avondale at a public meeting held July 2, 1869. The beauty of the surroundings may have prompted the inhabitants to name the village after the Avon River in England. Settlement was probably begun here in the late 1780's by Samuel Holmes, Robert McDonald, Gregor McGregor and Robert Stewart. William Hattie received a grant here in 1816, and buuilt one of the first mills in Merigomish. Archibald Walker was reputedly one of the first settlers. A school-house was built near the banks of the river in 1802. Later another school was built where the railway yard came to be in 1879. James Crerar and Daniel Anderson were early teachers. Avondale school burned down on June 5, 1944, and was replaced by a new building in 1945. A postal way office was established July 1, 1873, with Robert McDonald as Postmaster. A post office was established Aug. 1, 1883. In January, 1886, a new public hall was opened. The Eastern Extension Railway was constructed through this section about June 1879. Farming is the main industry. Population in 1956 was 56." 3. HI Liz, From the 1901 census in Pictou Town, census district # 4, family #31: Henry G. Kayenburg, b. Dec. 09, 1850, married, Steward Sarah, b. Sept, 15, 1857, married Harry, b. Oct. 28, 1895 I've looked in the books Ships, Shipbuilders, and Seamen of Pictou County, Ships of the North Shore, and Ships and Seamen of New Glasgow, and don't see any entry for him in there. I think you are going to find this a tough one! Just a suggestion, maybe you could find a will, or property transaction for G. Kayanbergh in the Deeds office in Pictou (although it might be tough trying to get there from BC!) 3. To all - whether students, church members, genealogy and hiostorical groups, or just interested researchers:- THE BIG CENSUS PUSH is on and we hope all who wish the 1911 Canadian census released will assist -- your help is needed for petitions, letters to both Senators and Members of Parliament. Newspaper publicity is needed -- ask your hometown editor to post a column -- and my e-mail address may be given muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Bill S-12 by Senator Lorna Milne is in third Reading stage, some debate and then hopefully a positive VOTE. Following Parliamentary procedure the Bill S-12 would then go to House of Commons for approval. At present, BOTH House of Commons and Senate petitions are needed. When the Bill passes in the Senate, very possibly we will only need House of Commons petitions after that -- I promise to let all know. To send letters, Gordon Watts has sample letters at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/ Click on HOMEPAGE Addresses and wording is there -- save to disk or Copy and Paste. Postage is FREE and many respond better to something in an envelope! Download census petitions -- a colourful sign is also there for your usage http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Adobe Acrobat is FREE -- acts as a reader -- must be downloaded. Petitions are in English and French Senate and House of Commons, plus English Non-Resident. Mail to either Gordon or myself -- we share petitions! If we all give this ONE HUGE PUSH before Easter, It will help -- there is a committee which ascertains the petitions in Ottawa -- approves them!! Students may use this as a different social science subject -- just add the name of the school so credit may be given. Let's SPRING INTO ACTION before Spring!!! Your help is Needed NOW!!! Muriel M.
