One of Alexander Graham's wives was a Janet McKenzie. In the past month I have been in contact with Graham Bennett in Guelph, ON, whose mother was Janet McKenzie Fraser, daughter of Alexander Cameron Fraser and Charlotte Ann Graham (my maternal gg grandparents). Graham Bennett's mother, Janet was the only daughter of Alexander and Charlotte Ann, and was named after Charlotte Ann's mother. I believe they are all buried in the Durham Cemetery. Cheers, Rick MacNeil

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WOC.2ACE/357.1 Message Board Post: Did you ever get your answers on Alexanders' wives ? In my McRae research I've found that Jane Ann McRae, d.o. Donald and Nancy, married John Elliott of Cape John on 21 May 1872. In the 1881 census Jane Elliott was living, along with her daughter Maggie, with her father Donald McRae in Hopewell, but no husband John Elliott. Does any of this help ? So far I can't find the family name of Donald's wife, Nancy(Annie). Any thoughts ?
Robert and Diane; Could these MacLean be related to your McLean's? I have an Alexander MacPherson (b. circa 1810 d. 1894) married to Elizabeth MacLean (b. 1811 d. Nov 4 1873 from the Marsh (Thorburn and Greenwood area). I also have her brother, William MacLean, (b. 1809 d. Jul 1855) marry Ellen (Helen) MacPherson. I have found that old documents often used Mac and Mc for the same person. Sorry I can't help you with the request for newspaper articles or land verification. Mary
Does anyone know which newspaper(s) dominated the Pictou area from the years 1801-1811? We are looking for newspaper articles or journal entries mentioning McLean. We have some McLeans living in the Greenwood area, also known as McLellans Brook or the Marsh. Donald and John McLean had land in that area. We have the copy of the land grant map, but I don't know what year it is from, it is obviously early because I also have a later map from 186? that shows the large plots divided into smaller ones. We know that Donald and John McLean are definitely related to our William McLean (1791-1865, of Frasers Mountain). But don't know if they are brothers or who William's father was. Since we cannot locate any legal documents between William and a parent, we think maybe written stories might mention something. What we are specifically looking for is something that mentions "father of", "brother of" or the sorts. Next of kin is mentioned once in a will, and another time in probate paperwork. We have the deed where William purchased his land from Mr. Gordon in 1811 on Frasers Mountain, and we know that William worked for many years after his arrival in Pictou in 1801 as a clerk for Mortimer. We've tracked everything from 1811 up to 1912. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can fill the gap from 1801 to 1811? Any hints are greatly appreciated, Rob & Dianne McLean

Doug; I'd be very happy to find out what happened to the Kelly son. I'd love to contact him if possible. Thanks, Mary Doug Sinnis wrote: I am afraid George Kelly has been dead for quite some time. I know his wife, who was a Pembleton died in January of 1964 and I am sure he was dead before her. They had a son, Bill who went to High School around the same time I did and I believe he joined the U.S. Army sometime after his graduation. I am not sure if he ever came back to Canada to live or not, but I may be able to find that out for you. I checked the 1901 Census for Westville, but couldn't find any Kelly surname.
