Payne, 65, of Victoria, died Tuesday at home. He was born in Oxford and served with the Royal Canadian Army overseas during the Second World War. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and worked for many years at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow, and later worked for Currie Brothers Funeral Home in Antigonish. He moved to British Columbia 20 years ago where he worked until his retirement. He is survived by his mother Rita Payne, of Saint John, N.B.; his wife, the former Audrey Angus; and five daughters: Trudy (Mrs. John Kelly), Antigonish; Mrs. Marsha Ridings, Mrs. Cathy Ert, Jan Marie (Mrs. Rob Angus), and Bonnie (Mrs. Kevin O'Conner), all of Victoria; two sons, Kevin and Brian, both of Victoria; 10 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Verta Vossamon, of Saint John. Memorial service will be held in Victoria Monday.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Mount Uniacke. She is survived locally by a stepsister, Mae (Mrs. Silver Hilchey), Moose River and a stepbrother, Harry Horne, Moose River. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H.; a son, Garnet; two brothers, Charles and Thomas; her stepmother, the former Elsie Prest Horne; two stepsisters, Mabel and Etta. The remains are resting in R.D. Lindsay Funeral Home, Windsor. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's United Church, Mount Uniacke. Interment will be in Union Church Cemetery, Mount Uniacke.

Hi folks, Any chance someone on the list might know of a Dougald and Veronica MacNeil of Nova Scotia, son Douglas Gerald MacNeil, born May 30, 1937, died April 7, 1970 in Vietnam. In the late 1950s and 1960s Douglas lived in Queens Village, New York. Susan Pogany has letters written by Douglas she would like to share with the family.
