Hello: Is anyone familiar with this are above? I could sure use some help. Bonnie
I'm researching Hugh Mc/MacDonald from Bailey's Brook. He had a son (Hugh) with Christy MacDonald c1866. Christy and the son moved away after Hugh Sr. died and appeared in the 1871 Antigonish census. Would information of Hugh MacDonald died 1865 to 1871, Bailey's Brook area, be sufficient information to request a Stone Book lookup? Thanks. Raymond MacDonald
Any recommendations on how to obtain a birth record from the Archives of Nova Scotia in Halifax, as they don't do look ups. Thanks, Tammie Benefiel
Thanks to everyone who gave directions to Bailey's Brook. I think I'm zeroing in on it. Now I can start figuring out how to get BMD's from c1870. Thanks again, Raymond

Christina's obituary reads "On July 18th (1913)... CHRISTIE MACDONALD, aged eighty seven years formerly of *Bailey's Brook, Pictou Co.*, and widow of Hugh MacDonald, of that place. R.I.P." I've found that when she was widowed (c1869) Christina moved to her brother's house in the town of Antigonish. She was listed with her son there in the 1871 and 1881 censuses, and by herself in 1901. The obituary states she died at her brother's house. I need to find out about the background of her husband Hugh, find out when he died, and just when the son Hugh was born. Any suggestions appreciated. Raymond MacDonald

I recently found an obituary for a woman named Emilie ELLIOTT, who was born 1848 in Ontario, died 1925 in Victoria, BC, but was buried at Pictou, NS. My family includes ELLIOTT's (from Ontario) and LANGILLE's (from Pictou) who married. I'm interested to know if there is any connection. And why was this woman buried in NS? Take Exit 27 at Sutherland's River (from New Glasgow) turn Left onto Rt 245 thru Egerton and Merigomish, follow this road. the turn off is between Lower Barney's River and Lismore. Good Luck Thelma Raymond, OK, saw the message this morning, thanks Stewart! Bailey's Brook is the last exit in Pictou County before Antigonish County, off the 104. My map doesn't show the Highway number off the 104, but the signs say to Avondale, Piedmont, Lower Barney's River etc.....if you get to Lower Barney's River, you've passed it! I just received an obituary that states that Christine MacDonald of Baileys Brook, Pictou County, widow of Hugh MacDonald of that same place, died July 1913. She died in the town of Antigonish and that's where my search was centered. Can anyone tell me where Bailey's Brook is located and anything about the town c1913? I'm going to have to start searching for information on Hugh MacDonald's death. Thanks. Raymond MacDonald
