    3. Hello, Actually, researchers have indicated that I probably do not tie in with Alpin (b. 1740 son of Iain)...at least not proved, but because I have explored the possibility that he was a relative, I do have some information you might like to have. Not knowing what you already know, perhaps you could tell me and the list specifically what you need, such as info on his children, etc. I have info submitted by Audrey Kotterman about Alpin that I can submit to the list that is rather interesting. Thank you for your reply! Suzie

    3. Hello Betty, What an kind offer. I would like to find: Annie (or Nancy) GRANT, b. abt 1829 in East River, living at Sunnybrae or nearby. Of course, I would be interested in most of the GRANTs there, but that would be a large search. So, could you tell me and the list where we can purchase a copy of the 1891 Pictou Census, and what you think the cost would be? That would be an invaluable source for all of us Pictou descendants to have, wouldn't it! Thank you so much for your help and suggestions. Suzie in Washington state

    3. Hello Bill, I appreciate your reply to my query. I understand that John Grant (1750-1770) was probably not the son of James Grant, 1725 (Hector immigrant) Other than that, I think I am on the right track as far as the rest. Alexander Grant, b. abt 1834, is found on the 1871 and 1881 census with his son, my 1st gg, WILLIAM GRANT, b. abt 1867. Then, Robert Grant, b. 9 July 1797, b. Urquhart, died bef 1871. His wife Mary, 64, b. NS., widowed, is on the 1871 East Branch, East River census, living next door to my Alexander Grant and his family. She is also on the 1881 census of East River, as is Alexander and his family. You mentioned the COROMONIE GRANTS of Sunny Brae. I am not familiar with the term Coromonie. Could you enlighten me, and perhaps share where I might check this out? One other researcher had said that John Grant (1750-1770) was son of James Grant, b. 1725, but I do not have her sources. Perhaps she somehow figured that John was the son who did not come with his parents and siblings on the Hector, 1773. Now to try to prove who the parents actually were. Hmmm. Any suggestions? 3. Yes, I did read that in several places. I guess the person who told me that James Grant was father of John Grant, (b. 1750/70 and died abt. 1826 at Sunnybrae, marr. to Margaret McIntosh) must have assumed John came later to Pictou, settling in Sunnybrae. 2. Suzie, In a newsletter written by R.H.Ward for the Free Lance in 1919 it says that James Grant of Millstream had a John, but John, the eldest son of James Grant, did not come on the Hector with his family. It is thought he later may have emigrated to America. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, 25 Apr 2007 10:29 PM Subject: Re: [CAN-NS-PICTOU] GRANT, IAIN; GRANT, JAMES; GRANT, ALPIN; GRANT, PETER; GRANT, MARY; of East River Hi Bruce, I am basically trying to research the following: My 2nd gg; Alexander Grant, b. abt 1834, East River, Pictou, NS, marr. 30 Dec 1856 to Nancy/Annie Ross, and died 24 Oct 1881, at Sunnybrae, Pictou. My 3rd gg; Robert Grant, chr. 9 Jul 1797 at Glen Urquhart, Inverness, Scotland, marr. 29 Jul 1824 at Pictou to Mary McDonald. He died bef 171 at Sunnybrae, I believe. Mary died about 1883. My 4th gg: John Grant, b. 1750/1770 at Glen Urquhart, marrying abt 1770/1789 to Margaret McIntosh. He died about 1826 at Sunnybrae. My 5th gg; James Grant, b. abt 1725 at Glen Urquhart, marrying Janet Grant on 13 Feb 1755 Inverness, Scotland. I believe they lived at Millstream, Pictou, NS. My suggested 6th gg: Iain (John) Grant, b. abt 1705 of Glen Urquhart, Inverness, Scotland (Loch Meikle, Sct.) I don't know who his wife was, but do believe he had 3 children: James, my 5th gg, Alpin, b. 15 mar 1740, chr 16 Mar 1740, Meikle, Inverness, Sct., possibly died about 1828, of East River, Pictou, NS. Also, a possible daughter Mary. Not sure if all the above is correct, would appreciate corrections and advice. Will be glad to share what I have. Thanks for your reply.
