    3. Hello Jerry, Do you remember me, - I used to work at the Fisheries School. Pardon me, for butting in here, but I saw your earlier query and am intensely interested in the MacPhees, so I tried to find Mary. Another researcher helped me out, so I have her ancestry if you need that. I was told that John McCulloch was the son of George and Eliza McCulloch and the marriage date for John and Mary was May 10 1882 in Shubenacadie. Later, the son of Warren McCulloch and Lucy Robinson married a cousin of mine in Hardwoodlands. I expect they both came from the same McCulloch family. I had no luck in finding John McCulloch and Mary MacPhee in the census records though. Beulah > Do you know who were the parents of John W. 3. Hi folks, Thanks to Lauretta-Lynn Battist there are 50 photos from Brule Cemetery posted on the Pictou GenWeb tonight. You can see them by going to http://www.rootsweb.com/~nspictou/ Then, under the "Cemeteries" title, click on "Transcriptions" to get the menu where you will see Brule....... There are several gravestones that are very difficult to read. Perhaps I can rephotograph them on summer vacation. Cheers, Rick MacNeil

    3. Thanks for all the replies. Here is what I know: I am stuck on my gg grandfather, Kenneth Fraser. As much as I know about Kenneth, he was born in Nov., 1820 at McLennan's Brook. He married Nancy Della Pearson (b Dec., 1835 in Truro, N.S.) in July of 1857. They had 2 sons: Thomas Alexander Fraser (b. Oct. 1861 in Truro) and Peter Thomas in 1867. Peter died young with no children. It appears that Kenneth moved to Truro after he married Nancy because their children were born there and their family is recorded in the census there. They moved to Manitoba later in life and both died there. I know that Kenneth's obituary was in a local Pictou newspaper and it verified that that is where he was born. I can not find ANY record of his birth, siblings or parents. It's like he fell from the sky. I have even gone there myself to try and find something/anything. I ended up finding all of Nancy's family, but not Kenneth. I would be eternally grateful for any help. I was thinking about hiring an experienced researcher to do the local leg work. Jan

    3. We have Frasers from the Millbrook/Mount Thom area in our family. William P. Fraser born about 1843 married Margaret McIntosh, daughter of Christina Ross and John S. McIntosh. They had 2 daughters: Christina married Donald Robert McKay and Elspie who married Robert McKay of Fox Brook. Christina died in 1901 at 28 years and is interred at Gainloch Cemetery. Her daughter, Maggie, was raised by the McIntoshes. Any information on these families would be most gratefully accepted. Catherine Colquhoun, daughter of Alexander Colquhoun and Helen Sutherland of Mount Thom, married William Cameron. They had a family of 4 sons: Daniel, David, Alexander and John. Catherine died in 1851 and William died in 1889. Both are interred in Salt Springs. Catherine was a first cousin of John S. McIntosh. Again any information regarding this family would be most gratefully accepted. Sincerely Carol Small

    1. [CAN-NS-PICTOU] McCULLOCH / FRASER / Mount Thom, Pictou Co
    2. jerry byers
    3. Pictou Co Listers: My ancestor: William McCulloch b. abt 1783 Tain, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, son of Alexander and Margaret [Forrester] McCulloch of Tain, Scotland, migrants to Kennetcook, Hants Co, NS, about 1788. This William McCulloch migrated to Mount Thom, Pictou Co, NS. His wife was Mary Fraser; perhaps of that Mount Thom area. William McCulloch d. 1869 'West River, aged 87 years', Pictou Co. Q 1. Anyone know if a Fraser family lived in Mount Thom, Pictou Co, in the late 1700s / early 1800s? William McCulloch might have settled in Mount Thom because his wife Mary Fraser might have been of that place [but Mary Fraser might possibly be of Hants Co]. Mary Fraser of Pictou Co or Hants Co is my brick wall... of course, with a name like that. Q 2. Is there a published history of Mount Thom / area that might indicate migration / origins / genealogies of its early settlers? Q 3. Any one have info on the William McCulloch/Mary Fraser family of Mount Thom, Pictou Co, or its allied families of that area? Nine known children. The first 7 children were b. in Hants Co, the last 2 children were b. in Mount Thom, so it appears that William McCulloch migrated to Mount Thom in about 1821. Children of William and Mary (Fraser) McCulloch of Mount Thom, Pictou Co 1 Lydia McCulloch b. abt 1810 2 dau McCulloch b. abt 1812 3 Mary McCulloch b. 1814 m. Anne; m James Daniel Cameron 5 John McCulloch b. 1816 m. Margaret Fraser b. 1814 Pictou Co, d. 1895, bur. Watervale-Hill Cemetery, West River. This family lived at New Lairg, Pictou Co. 10 children [married into Cameron, Chisholm, Tupper, Bigney families].. 6 Catherine McCulloch b. 1817 m. Charles Hamilton. Lived in Truro. 7 Elizabeth McCulloch b. 1819 Kennetcook, Hants Co, m. John Benjamin Fielding of Truro. 8 children. 8 Daniel McCulloch b. 1822 West River, Pictou Co, d. 15 Jan 1875 Mount Thom, Pictou Co, aged 52 years, bur. in McKay Cemetery, Mount Thom; m. Isabella Cameron dau. of Hugh and Elizabeth [McKay] Cameron. 8 children [married into Simmonds, McKay, Balfour families]. 9 Lilly McCulloch b. 1823 m. 3. Hello Ben, I am sorry that I do not have anything to assist you in your search at this time but I am wondering if you can help me. My great grandmother was Margaret Ellen MacIntosh, 1844-1891, from the Pictou/Colchester county area in Nova Scotia. I was told that her mother was Anne Fraser but I have nothing on any other member of her family. Have you ever come across these folks in your searches? I am also closely related to two MacDonald families in Pictou County. One line from Lewis and one from Glencoe Scotland.
