OBIT # 5059 - EASTERN CHRONICLE - 22 AUGUST 1935 Miss AMELIA GORDON-The death occured on Tuesday afternoon of this week in Pictou of Miss AMELIA GORDON, the youngest and last surviving member of the family of the late Mr.and Mrs.WILLIAM GORDON. She had been an invalid for several years, but was always bright and interested in the affairs of the community. She was a Presbyterian all her life, being a faithful and devoted member of St.Andrew's church. She endowed a room in Sutherland Memorial Hospital and was interested in all schemes for the betterment of community life. Her family was one of the oldest in Pictou County, her mother being one of five sisters, four of whom married and lived in Pictou , and of these families Miss Gordon was the last direct descendant living in Pictou town. Mrs. J. WILLIAM GORDON, Bermuda, is a sister-in-law, and she and her daughter, Mrs. JOHN HARVEY are in Pictou at present. Rev. ALEXANDER M.GORDON, of Quebec and Mr.HUNTLEY GORDON, of Hamilton, Ont.are nephews. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at her home "Kildonan", Denoon Street, and was largely attended.
