Captain John Zinck Handwritten date: February 9, 1944. The passing of Captain John Zinck, at the age of 62 years, occurred at his home at Riverport early Wednesday morning. Captain Zinck had been in failing health for some time but his passing came as a shock to his many friends. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Zinck of Riverport and was a follower of the sea in fishing and coastal trade. For some years he commanded the fishing schooners, "Revenue" and "Marguerite E. Zinck." He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Smith of Riverport; one son, Rayburne; two daughters, the Misses Claribee and Joyce; and by one brother, Artemas Zinck, all of Riverport. The funeral service was held from Trinity United Church on Thursday afternoon and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.K. Pace. The text chosen for the occasion was from II Timothy 1:10, "But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."The hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd I"ll Not Want," "Peace, Perfect Peace," and "Brief Life is Here our Portion." The pall bearers were Captain Daniel Romkey, John Ritcey, Thomas Ritcey, Lawrence Mossoman, Talmage Reinhardt, and Wesley Corkum. Interment was made in the Riverport Cemetery at Shepherd's Hill.
