Leander Acker 1960 Bridgewater Bulletin Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church in Springfield on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 20, for the late Leander Acker, age 58, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Acker of Lake Pleasant. Mr. Acker has for some years been suffering from ulcers of the digestive tract, and a few days previous to his death, perforation took place. He lived alone and was taken to Dawson Memorial Hospital, where surgery was done, but his condition was hopeless from the start. He has been a great sufferer. Surviving are two brothers, Ralph of Deep Brook; and Ernest in Middleton; also two sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Comeau), at Lake Pleasant; and Flossie (Mrs. Thomas Butler), of Kingston. Predeceasing him were three brothers, Herbert, Arthur, and Willis. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.D. Chase and the pallbearers were Stanley Charlton, Primrose Tufts, Harry Wile, and Burpee Mailman. Hymns by the choir were "Abide With Me" and "Does Jesus Care?" Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery in the family lot, beside his parents and brothers. Mr. Acker was hospitalized for two weeks previous to his death.
