    3. Caterina M. Cushing 2004 Halifax Chronicle Herald Caterina M. Cushing, 18, Caledonia, died suddenly as a result of a tragic car accident, on Sunday, January 4, 2004, on Highway 103 near Chester. Born at Bridgewater, she was the daughter of Charles Cushing, Bridgewater and Heather Fancy, Caledonia. Caterina was an outgoing young lady. She attended North Queens Rural High School, Caledonia for 13 years of her precious life. She was the 2001 Queen at the Queens County Exhibition. She was an active member in school and was on the volleyball team, student council, aand safe grad. She enjoyed crafts, music, swimming, drama, and creative writing. She was enrolled in the Business program at the Nova Scotia Community College, Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater, having received the first entrance scholarship out of North Queens Rural High School. She also worked part-time at N.F. Douglas Hardware. People will always remember her for her radiant smile and her pleasant personality. Caterina's family and friendships were the most important part of her life, plus she had an extraordinary relationship with her nanny, Vivian. Caterina was inspired with the writing of Kahil Gibran,"Trust your dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity." She is survived by her brother, Kyle; maternal grandmother, Vivian (Peter) MacKay, Caledonia; paternal grandfather, Charles, Caledonia; step-parents, Fanny Brown, Bridgewater; Owen Fancy, Caledonia; stepsisters, Aimee and Alyssa; stepbrother, Owen Jr. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Randolph Wagner; paternal grandmother, Lillian Cushing. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A photo viewing of her life will take place from 10-11 a.m. followed by a celebration of Caterina's life at 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, all in Caledonia United Church, Rev. Linda Kuschnik officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to North Queens Rural High School for a bursary in memory of Caterina.
