She was a member of the Methodist Church in LaHave Islands, where she sang in the choir and was church secretary for a number of years. She moved to East LaHave with her son and daughter-in-law in 1968. Her greatest pleasure came from working in the beautiful flower gardens with which she surrounded her home, and she continued to care for them as long as health permitted. Surviving are a brother, Bernard Walfield of West Dublin; a foster daughter, Goldie (Mrs. Pearlie Rhodenizer), Pleasantville; a granddaughter, Merna (Mrs. Cyril Cook), Dayspring; 11 foster grandchildren; and 24 foster great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John; a daughter, Mildred Lovetta; a son, William Rogers; two sisters, Elizabeth and Florence; five brothers, William, Archibald, Gordon, Lewis, and Frank; a step-sister, Cecelia; and a step-brother, Robert. The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, where funeral service was held on March 9 at 3 p.m. with Rev. John S. Moran officiating. Organist was Mrs. Helen Killam. Hymns rendered included "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Henry Baker, David Talbot, James and Wilfred Rhodenizer. Burial will be in Mosher's Island Cemetery at a later date.
