Harry A.F. Pernette 1998 Halifax Chronicle Herald Harry A.F. Pernette, 83, West LaHave, died December 8, 1998, at home. Born at West LaHave, he was a son of the late Josiah and Winnie (Richard) Pernette. He worked at Boehner Woodworkers Limted from 1930-1978. He was well known in Lunenburg County for his Jersey cows and his association with the South Shore Exhibition for the past 46 years, 25 of which he was president. He was twice past president of the Federation of Agriculture and 25 years as chairman of the Livestock Sales in Bridgewater. He was also past secretary of Lunenburg County Milk and Cream Producers Association. He, with his son Robert, owned and operated LaHave River Jersey Farm and this year was awarded the Dairy Award of Excellence. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith (Woodworth); son, Robert(Shirley), West LaHave; daughter, Sheila (Reg) Goldsmith, Round Hill, Annapolis County; grandchildren, Richard, Randall, Rosalind, and Roderick Pernette, Susan and Janis Goldsmith, Karen Olsen; great-grandsons, Benjamin and Quintin; brothers, Percy, Donald; sisters, Avernia Bushen, Helen Routledge, and Yvonne Haughan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, John and sister, Katherine Haughn. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday in Fort Point Cemetery, LaHave, REv. Sally McShane officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, South Shore Exhibition Covered Arena or a charity of choice.
