    3. Laird Roy Arenburg 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Laird Roy Arenburg, Truro, passed away September 22, 2003, in The Mira Home for Special Care, Truro. Born August 12,1912, in Stanburne, he was a son of the late Amos and Bertha (Conrad) Arenburg. He started working as a very young age on the family farm, in the forest, and at carpentry. For a number of years he was active as a registered guide and fondly remembered the Guides' Meets at Lake William (now Camp Kadimah). He was employed by Canadian National Railways from 1938 until retirement in 1974, as a locomotive engineer. He often spoke of the many troop and supply trains that he worked from Moncton to Halifax during the war years. Laird was a former member of K40. He was a past master of Truro Lodge No. 43 AF&AM, past High Priest of Keith Chapter No. 4 R.A.M., a 32nd. degree member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Philae Temple AAONMS and Central Shrine Club, a past patrom of Myrtle Chapter OES. He was a long-time member of St. John's Anglican Church, Truro, and served as warden and in other capacities for many years. Laird loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent hunting, salmon fishing on the LaHave, and at his cottage at Lake Mushamush. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was an honest, hard working and jovial man who was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Veinotte); son, David (Marlene), Truro; grandchidlren, Krista Poole, Truro;Trevor Campbell, Powell River, B.C.; Colin Campell, Heidi Sexton, and Josh Arenburg, all of Truro. He was predeceased by his only daughter, Judith Elizabeth Campbell (Graham); sisters, Vera, Nellie; brothers, Murray, Milton, Floyd. Funeral 2 p.m. today in St. John's Anglican Church, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. Reception to follow in St. John's Anglican Church Hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Laird's memory to the St. John's Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Shriner's Crippled Children Fund or Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
