OBIT # 5201 - EVENING NEWS - 5 JULY 1949: TRENTON- The death of CHARLES W. PELLEY, 68, occured in the Aberdeen Hospital on June 9th, following a lengthy illness. Born at Charlottetown, PEI, Mr.Pelley had been a resident of Trenton, NS, for the past forty years, and was an employee of the Eastern Car Company. The funeral was held in Trenton United Church on Sunday, June 12th at 2:30pm. with Rev.A.W.Osborne in charge of the service, assisted by Evangelist F.G.Strickland. John G.MacKenzie soloist, Westville, gave a beautiful rendition of that appropriate hymn,"Only Remembered". Mr.Pelley was a member of Doric Lodge No.91 A.F.and A.M., Trenton; also a member of Liberty Lodge No.22, Knights of Pythias, New Glasgow. The members of Doric Lodge attended the funeral service and conducted their impressive ritualistic ceremony at the graveside. The Lodge brethern filling the capacity of pall bearers were: Duncan Ward, Alex Chisholm, Robert Logan, John D.MacLean, Alex Fraser, Harry Duncan. Interment was in Hillside cemetery Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs.C.L. LURVEY, Natick, Mass.; Mrs.WALLACE ROY, Stellarton; Mrs. F.WERTHEIMER, New Rochelle,N.Y.; one son, WELLINGTON, at home; two brothers, FRED of Dartmouth, NS; EDWARD of St.Clair,Michigan.
