Mary Margaret"Peggy" Ritcey 2002 Halifax Chronicle Herald The death of Mary Margaret "Peggy" Ritcey occurred May 17, 2002, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.Born at Louisburg, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Jennie (Kendall) MacDonald. Peggy nursed at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital for many years and later did private duty nursing. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Rhodes Corner. Very active in all community affairs, she was a member of the Riverport Community Centre Auxiliary and past president of the Progressive Conservative Women's Association, Lunenburg Centre, and a member of the Progrressive Conservative Lunenburg East Executive. She was a former member of Lunenburg Regional Vocational School Board, the Ladies Auxiliary, Legion Branch 23, Lunenburg, former Girl Guide badge tester, Sunday School teacher, choir member, council member and E.L.W. member. Peggy was a member of the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women for six years. Peggy is survived by daughters, Anne Louise Ritcey-Conrad and husband David, Riverport; Rosalie Sarty and husband Joseph, Hebbville; sons, Elliott Ritcey, Riverport; John MacDonald and his wife, Linda, Louisburg. She is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsey Sarty, Christopher and Tyler Ritcey-Conrad, John and Brian MacDonald, Elliott Jr.; great-granddaughters, Rose Mary and Justine MacDonald; sisters, Jeanette and Sally, Woodstock, Ontario; Marion, Roberta, Elda, Louisburg; Jessica, Kansas City; brothers, Lawrence, Louisburg; Sandy, Glace Bay; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elliott; sisters, Thelma, Annie, Eileen; brothers, Stevie and Jackie. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, with visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Grace Lutheran Church, First South, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd's Hill Cemetery, Riverport. Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
