    3. R. Elliott Bertrum Ritcey 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald R. Elliott Bertrum Ritcey, 78, Riverport, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Riverport, he was a son of the late Roland and Mary (Richards) Ritcey. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23, Lunenburg. He started his sea-going career with fishing and later was employed as second class engineer on gypsum boats, then with the Bedford Institute of Technology as second class engineer on the Hudson and Baffin. Prior to his retirement, he operated the LaHave Ferry. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" MacDonald; daughters, Anne Louise Ritcey-Conrad and husband David, Riverport; Rosalie Sarty and husband Joseph, Hebbville; son, Elliott, Riverport; grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsay Sarty, Hebbville; Christopher and Tyler Ritcey-Conrad, Elliott Ritcey, all of Riverport. He was predeceased by sisters, Myrtle Louise in infancy and Rosalie Maxine; brother Carl Emmanuel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd's Hill Cemetery, Riverport. Legion service will be 6:45 p.m. today in the funeral home. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to any charity.
