Mildred Maxine Mader 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald Mildred Maxine "Mil" Mader, 83, Chester, passed away peacefully March 16, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, with all her children and grandchildren by her side. Born at Simpson's Corner, she was a daughter of the late John and Samantha (Ernst) Lowe. A graduate of Maritime Beauty Academy, Halifax, Mil operated her own hair salon from her family residence until 1960. She was an active and long-time member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chancel and Ladies Guild, Sunday School teacher and also a Brownie leader for many years; life member of Chester Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary; life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Butler Branch 44 Ladies Auxiliary, Chester. From October, 1960-October, 2004, she acted as Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages for the area. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading, and her favourite places were at home and cottage with her loving family around her. Mildred is survived by her loving family, Dana (Sally), Chester; John (Sharon), Chester Grant; Christopher (Sharon), Chester Basin; daughters, Angela (Michael) Webber, Chester; and Tanya (Terry) Rafuse, Middle River; grandchildren, Carla and Vanessa and their mother, Joan; Lisa, Matthew, and Andrew, Lesek, Megan, and Samantha; great-grandson, Jesse; sister, Eileen Snyder, New Minas. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; sisters, Linda, Ina, Goldie, Alvina, and LaVerne; brothers, Elwin, Fred, Lawton, Murray, Glen, infant brother Carmen; and grandson, Charlie in infancy. At her request, there will be a private fmaily gathering today in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chester with Father Jim McCorriston officiating. Burial to follow in Bayview Cemetery, Chester. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's Anglican Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.
