UNKNOWN PAPER - 12 OCTOBER 1942 ARTHUR WILL MCLEOD - On Oct. 3 the community of Waugh's River and adjoining section were greatly shocked at the sudden death of a highly respected citizen in the person of Arthur Will McLEOD in his sixty-eight year. Although the deceased had not been in the best of health for some time, nevertheless, he was able to continue with his farm work and on Saturday morning while attending to his duties he was stricken with a heart attack from which he did not recover and was found by his sister shortly afterwards. He was the third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McLEOD (nee Ellen NELSON). The deceased had lived practically all his life at the home residence, with the exception of a few years in the United States and Western Canada in his early manhood. Mr. McLEOD was of a quiet disposition a good citizen, and always ready to help in any good cause. In politics he was a staunch Liberal. The funeral was held from his late home on Monday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. and was very largely attended. His pastor Rev. James WILLIAMS of the Presbyterian Church in Tatamagouche of which the deceased was a member, ably conducted the service and spoke very fittingly from the 11 Chap. of St. John and the 25th Verse. "I am the resurrection and the Life" also read passages from the following Chap., "St. John 14, 1 Corin. 15., Rev. 21. The hymns sung were "The Lord is My Shepherd," "Abide with me" and "the Sands of Time are Sinking." The floral offerings were lovely. He is survived by his wife and one sister Eliza. The only surviving member of a family of seven, three brothers and four sisters. The pall bearers were, William NELSON, Kenneth SUTHERLAND, Minard HAYMAN, Peter WATT, Gordon HAYMAN, Laurence SUTHERLAND. Interment was at the Falls Cemetery.
