Hugh R. Anderson 1976 Hugh R. Anderson, 89, of 45 Green Street, died Monday, May 24, at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Lunenburg he was a son of the late Captain Benjamin and Sarah Anderson. He was a lifelong resident of Lunenburg and spent his working life on the waterfront in the ship chandling and building supply business.He was a long-time member and chief of the Lunenburg Fire Department and was Lunenburg County chairman of the Boy Scouts of Canada; a lifelong member of St. John's Anglican Church and a former vestry clerk and warden. He is survived by two sons, Dr. N.B. Anderson, Lunenburg; Arthur H., Rockingham; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura and a number of brothers and sisters. The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home and burial service was held in St. John's Anglican Church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Austin Munroe officiated with Rev. Gregory Pritchard assisting. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. The Lunenburg Fire Department attended in a body and the following members were active pallbearers: Fred Dauphinee, William Dauphinee,Robert Stoddard, Charles Beck, Richard Mason, and Victor Corkum. Honourary pallbearers were Dr. Owen B. Smith, Rayburn Lohnes, Bertram Morash, Captain Angus Tanner, Frank Adams, and Gerald Schwartz.
