OBIT # 5211 - EVENING NEWS - 12 FEB 1946 NEW GLASGOW- The death of Mrs.GEORGE GALLANT occured at the home of her sister, Mrs.RODERICK CHISHOLM, Dec.30, 1945, wife of GEORGE GALLANT and daughter of the late HARRY MacKENZIE, who predeceased her twelve years ago,and Mrs.ROSS SMITH. Although she had been in ill health for the past two years, her death came as a shock to her relatives and friends. She spent many months in the Aberdeen Hospital but she had only been a patient for five weeks in St.Martha's Annex. Ten days previous to her death, she came to spend Christmas at the home of her sister. She was a favorite patient with all the nurses, who cared for her from time to time. She never complained and had a smile for everyone. She is survived by her husband, two sorrowing children, LEO, 9, MILDRED, 2, who mourn the loss of the loving mother. A baby son and daughter predeceased her three months ago. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs.ROSS SMITH, and two sisters, MARIE(Mrs.RODERICK CHISHOLM), MABLE(Mrs. ELMER PATTON, all of New Glasgow. One brother, Pte.HARRY, with the Pictou Highlanders, now stationed at Debert survives her. One sister, Mrs.MILDRED MacKENZIE predeceased her fifteen months ago. She was a member of St.John's Church, where Sequence Mass was held by Father Chisholm. Her remains were conveyed to St.John's cemetery for burial.
