James W. Acker February, 1985. Halifax Chronicle Herald James William Acker, 70, Lunenburg, died Wednesday in Harbour View Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg. Born at First South, he was a son of the late Frank and Ellen (Acker) Acker. He worked most of his life with National Sea Products, Lunenburg and was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. He is survived by a son, Franklin, Lunenburg; eleven sisters, Grace (Mrs. Henry Ferguson), and Lottie (Mrs. John Mitchell), both in the United Ststes; Olive (Mrs. Chester Wentzell), Spryfield; Marion (Mrs. Douglas Patton), Chester Grant; Shirley (Mrs. Lauren Wile), Lower LaHave; Irean (Mrs. Basil Fralick), Centre; Florence (Mrs.Bernard Swinamer), Western Shore; Isabel, Lunenburg; Emily Zinck, Lunenburg; June (Mrs. Frank Briand), Fauxburg; two brothers, Harold and Gravel, both of First South; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Thelma Haughn; five brothers, Roy, Allen, Charles, Lewis, and Allen Theodore. The body is in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central United church or Canadian Arthritis Society.
