    3. Glenn P. Porter 1977 Bridgewater Bulletin Glenn Parker Porter, of 228 Empire Street, Bridgewater, passed away suddenly on June 29, at the age of 65 years. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Minnie (Walker) Porter. By occupation, he was a travelling salesman and had been employed by several Annapolis Valley firms as well as Moirs Limited of Halifax; F.O. Crouse and Co.Ltd., of Bridgewater; and later as manager of the Lunenburg County Exhibition Commission until his retirement because of failing health. He was a member of the Bridgewater United Baptist Church where he held the office of Sunday School Superintendent for a numer of years and served on several boards and committees. He was a former councillor and mayor of the town of Bridgewater from 1961 to 1967. He was extremely interested in the development of the Dawson Memorial Hospital of which the cornerstone bears his name. He was a past president of the Bridgewater Memorial Arena; Past Master of Acacia Lodge, No. 39, A.F & A.M. and Past Noble Grand of the IOOF Lodge. He is survived by his wife, the former Nedra Rhodenizer; three sons, Wayne, Port Hawkesbury; Glenn J., Lahr, Germany; James, Pictou; two brothers, Andrew, Yarmouth; Clifford, Massachusetts; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. Memorial services were held at Wamback Memorial Chapel by both the Masonic and Oddfellows Lodge and funeral service was held in the Bridgewater Baptist Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. Melville Scott officiating and the male choir, of which Mr. Porter was a former member, in attendance. The choir rendered the beautiful selection,"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Interment was in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
