UNKNOWN PAPER - 8 SEPTEMBER 1944 ALEX W. SUTHERLAND - The Falls - The death of Alex. W. SUTHERLAND occurred at his late home on August 31 following a few weeks illness. Mr. SUTHERLAND who was seventy years of age had been in failing health for a few months but up until the last two weeks had been going about and doing his usual chores. He will be greatly missed in the home and neighborhood where he was always willing to do his part while health permitted, especially will he be missed by the children whom he like to have with him and whose company he enjoyed. Left to mourn are two sister, Georgie at home and Cassie (Mrs. Alex. MURRAY) West Branch, R.J. and a brother Angus of the staff of the Nova Scotia Training School Truro. The funeral which took place from the Presbyterian Church on Saturday was largely attended and was conducted by Rev. J.H. WILLIAMS, of Scotsburn a former pastor of this congregation. Hymns used were. 'The Lords My Shepherd", "Oh God of Bethel" and "Asleep in Jesus". Pallbearers were: Norman, Daniel and Jamie SUTHEERLAND, Mack BAILLIE, Alex MacKAY and Stanley MATHESON. The remains were laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
