Eli J. Banfield 1981 Bridgewater Bulletin Eli J. Banfield, 84, of Middle LaHave, died Wednesday, April 1, 1981, at Fahie's Nursing Home, Liverpool. Born at Bay L'Argent, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Samuel and Martha Banfield. He is survived by one son, Eli, East LaHave; a daughter, Gladys (Mrs. Alpheus Smith), Middle LaHave; a brother, Gordon, Mount Uniacke; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah; an infant daughter and infant twin granddaughters; a sister, Melinda; and three brothers, Albert, George, and Edgar. The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Middle LaHave, Archdeacon Gregory Pritchard officiating. Burial was at Brookside Cemetery in Bridgewater. The pallbearers were Gerald Conrad, Rodney Corkum, Fenton Dibbin, Gary Hartman, Eric Wentzell, and Roy Wentzell.
