Jennie Elizabeth Ritcey 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, January 24, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Jennie Elizabeth Ritcey, 95, Riverport, died peacefully Saturday, January 22, 2000, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born and lived at Riverport, she was daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie Ritcey. Jennie taught school in her community for many years and was a member of the Riverview Rebekah Lodge 56, Riverport. She was a member of Trinity United Church, Rose Bay, where she was past president of the UCW, a choir member and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Jennie's unique approach to life and the enduring qualitites that were hers alone were the basis of many a friendship formed. She is survived by stepsons, Donald Gerhardt, Halifax; Gordon Ritcey, Ottawa; stepdaughter, Virginia Woolett, Edmonton. She was predeceased by her first husband, Milton Gerhardt; her second husband, Everett Ritcey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Rose Bay, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd's Hill Cemetery, Riverport, at a later dater. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
