Lloyd Malcolm William Powers Sr. 1972 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Lloyd Malcolm William Powers, Sr., 55, occurred suddenly at his home in Bridgewater on Monday, November 13th. He was born at Bell's Island on June 12th., 1917, son of the late William and Lottie (Himmelman) Powers. At an early age, he became an inshore, and later a dep-sea fisherman. Of late years, he was self-employed. Although severely handicapped for many years, he always bore his suffering with fortitude and renewed spirit; his endurance a shining example to all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Elva (Romkey); three daughters, Joan (Mrs. Hector Getson); Mary (Mrs. Boyd Wagner), both of Newcombville; Sharon (Mrs. Ronald Nauss), Middle New Cornwall; one son, Lloyd Jr., Mount Pleasant; one brother, Willis, Gloucester, Mass.; one sister, Effie (Mrs. Archibald Baker), Crescent Beach; and seven grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Arnold, in 1969; also two sisters and one brother several years ago. The funeral service was held from the chapel of the United Church Christian Education Centre, Bridgewater on November 15th., at 2 p.m., with Rev. R.H. Mills officiating. Mrs. R.H. mills was organist and hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Pall bearers were Cecil Hubley, Fred Thompson, Basil Rhodenizer, and Clyde Getson. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
