UNKNOWN PAPER - 4 JUNE 1963 WARDSMAN MACBURNIE - Truro - Sorrowing relatives and many friends assembled at the Kennedy Memorial Residence on Saturday afternoon for the funeral of the late Wardsman MacBURNIE, who passed away early Wednesday morning in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Rev. T.E. McLENNAN, minister of St. Andrew's United Church, officiated at the service, and members of the church choir sang "The Lord's My Shepherd". Percy KENNEDY sang "The Old Rugged Cross". The organist was Mrs. D.E. MacPHEE. The large attendance at the service and the profusion of floral tributes evidenced the high regard in which Mr. MacBURNIE was held and brought comfort to those who are left to mourn. Following the service there the funeral cortege proceeded to Barrachois, where interment took place in the family lot in the Bayview Cemetery. The committal service was conducted by Dr. McLENNAN. The pallbearers were Otis PATRIQUIN, Graham HOARE, George ASHLEY, Ernest MacKENZIE, Jack TATTRIE and James BATES, all friends of the deceased. Mr. MacBURNIE would have been 96 years old on Thursday, May 30 - the day following his passing. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Sadie MacDONALD of New Annan, 39 years ago; four sisters and one brother. He is survived by two step-sons, Earl MacDONALD of Bible Hill; Frank MacDONALD of Tatamagouche; three sons, Dannie of 34 Archibald St., with whom he made his home; Clarence of Oshawa, Ont., and Hugh of St. Catharines, Ont.; one sister, Mrs. Flora WILLOBY, Attleboro, Mass.; also three granddaughters, the Misses Flora, Jean and Sadie MacBURNIE of Tatamagouche.
