Mervin Nickerson 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, January 29, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Mervin Nickerson, 71, Upper Point LaTour, Shelburne County, died January 27, 2000, at home, with his wife by his side and now resting with his Lord and Saviour. Born at South Side, he was a son of the late Marshall and Mae (Cunningham) Nickerson. Surviving are his loving wife, the former Shirley M. Schnare; sons, Stanley (Marilyn), Upper Point LaTour; George (Premrose), Centreville; daughters, Diane (Mrs. Cecil Newell Jr.), Newellton; Nellie (Mrs. Ricky Swaine), Shelburne; brothers, Melvin (twin), Marshall, Conrad, all of South Side; Stewart, North East Point; sisters, Joyce (Mrs. Hoover Nickerson), West Head; Velma MacGillivray), North East Point; grandsons, Colins, Matthew, Darren, Joshua; granddaughters, Diane, Heidi, and Courtney. He was predeceased by his brothers, Sable, Donald, George, Randall; sisters, Margaret and Evernell. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. today in H. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home memorial chapel, Rev. Gerald Cossaboom officiating. Interment will be in the Parkdale Cemetery, Upper Point LaTour. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VON, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
