    3. Ira J. Haines 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Ira J. Haines, 76, Spanish-American War veteran, occurred at his home, 18 Cotting Avenue, Marlboro, Mass., on Monday afternoon, February 18th. Mr. Haines was born at Midville Branch, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Haines, but had lived in Marlboro for the past 50 years. He was a retired salesman. At the time of his death he was adjutant of Marshall Camp and was one of its past commanders. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nellie Carroll Haines, former district nurse; and two sisters, rs. Joseph P. Snyder, Midville branch and Miss Carrie Haines, Milton, Mass. The funeral on Thursday morning was held from his home at 10 o'clock, Rev.John J. McEneaney officiating. Military honors were given by the E.D. Marshall Camp, U.S.W.V. in charge of Cmdr. Joseph Philbrick and Thomas Hutch, chaplain. Burial was in Marlboro in charge of William M. Tighe. Bearers were comrades Elton Howe, Ernest Howe, Jeremiah Frazil, F. Howard Brown, Irving Wright, and Wallace Burhoe. A salute was fired by a squad including John V. O'Brien, commander, George B. Herrick, James Green, John Sullivan, and Ralph Lachapelle. Taps was sounded by Felix Sabella.
