Arleigh Edward Varner 1984 Bridgewater Bulletin Arleigh Edward Varner, 87, of New Germany, died Sunday, January 8, 1984, in Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at New Germany, he was the son of the late Joseph and Adelia (Veinot) Varner. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, New Germany. He was a veteran of the First World War and a member of Branch 102, Royal Canadian Legion, New Germany; also a member of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nova Scotia; and the Rosedale New Horizons Senior Citizens. He worked for over fifty years with Zwickers' Box Factory, New Germany. He is survived by his wife, the former Alda May Emina; two daughters, Doris (Mrs. G. Rollen Veinot), New Germany; Mildred (Mrs. Karl MacKay), Upper Northfield; a son, Ray, New Germany; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers, Enoch, Maynard, Albert, Arthur, and Seth; six sisters, Inez, Bertha, Flo, Sadie, Alice, and Abby; two half-sisters, and a great-grandson, Wayne.
