Evelyn Westhaver 1980 Bridgewater Bulletin Evelyn Westhaver, wife of Rev. Clyde Westhaver, of Marmora, Ontario, passed away at University Hospital in London on Sunday, August 17, 1980, following a period of illness. She was in her sixth-first year. Formerly Evelyn Hirtle, daughter of the late Captain Vernon Hirtle and his wife Hilda (Herman), she was born at Mahone Bay. She resided in Halifax until her marriage to Rev. Clyde Westhaver in 1945. She accompanied her husband as they served charges in Newfoundland, the Maritimes, Quebec, and eastern and western Ontario. Always active in the work of the church, she took a special interest in children and youth. In 1976 she graduated from the London School of Nursing as an R.N.A. and worked in a number of nursing homes, more recently at the Centre Hastings Nursing Home near Marmora. She is survived by her husband; one son, Spurgeon (Spud) of London; and by four daughtess, Faith (Mrs. Dwaine McDonald), of Kingston, Ontario; Carol of Toronto; Grace (Mrs. Richard Lemon), of Dundalk, Ontario; and Rose (Mrs. David Mitchell), of London; also by one brother, Rev. Arthur Hirtle, of Toronto. The funeral was held on Wednesday, August 20, from the McConnell Funeral Home and St. Andrew's United Church in Marmora, the Rev. Harold Bailey officiating. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in London.
