    3. Warren Earle Trethewey 1971 Bridgewater Bulletin Handwritten date: January 30, 1971. The community of New Germany and District was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Warren Earle Trethewey at Campbell Hospital after being a patient for several weeks there, at the age of 76 years. He was the son of the late Schoyler and Ida Trethewey and was born at New Germany in 1895, and spent his whole life here except for the years of the First World War, 1914-1918, when he joined the army and went overseas with the Medical Corp. He leaves to mourn him, a son, Ross of Kingston, Ontario; sister, (Daisy) Mrs. Harry Sleep, Dartmouth; brother, Roderick, on the home place. A brother, Rex, predeceased him in 1965. The funeral service was held by Rev. J. Crooks in Epworth United Church, attended by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 102; also members of Pinegrove Lodge, No. 111, of which he was a member for 50 years. He also took a great interest in the New Germany Citizens Band. They held their service at Langille's Funeral Home. Hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "The King of Love My Shepherd Is." Pallbearers were Conrades Lemuel Lohnes, Robert Emino, John Mader, Keith Mailman, Kerry Veinot, and Milton Varner. Interment was in the United Church Cemetery.
